By rail and ship
From 3/28/2017 – 10/31/2017, visitors will have access to the most important ferry departure routes at Dagebüll pier with non-stop IC through carriages from Cologne through the Ruhr Valley, from Karlsruhe through Frankfurt (Main) and Hanover, or from Dresden through Berlin without changing trains.
At Dagebüll pier, you step directly from the train onto the ferry. For more information, visit www.bahn.de/nordseeinseln.

DB night train
Night trains travel from Zürich through Basel, Freiburg, Offenburg, and Karlsruhe, and from Munich through Augsburg to Hamburg-Altona where you can get a connecting train to Dagebüll.

Travel by motorail train to Hamburg-Altona
The motorail train can be taken from Munich-East, Lörrach, and Vienna to travel to Hamburg-Altona.
For many connections, your DB railway ticket will be valid for the complete leg including the ferry. On the day of arrival and departure, your DB travel ticket will be valid for rail and ship services, as well as for the W.D.R. bus line to the bus stop in your vacation location.

By car and ship
Take the A23 from Hamburg through Heide. Followed by Bundesstraße 5 to Dagebüll. There you can park at the parking lots/garages subject to a charge. No registration. If you want to take your car onto the island, we recommend that you reserve a place on the ferry with the Wyker Dampfschiffs-Reederei well in advance: Tel. 04667-94030, by fax (04681) 80-116 or directly online via www.faehre.de.
Please only use your car as a “rolling suitcase”. Buses commute between the island’s villages and there are many biking and hiking trails.

Via Nordstrand through the Halligen Sea.
If you want to travel via Nordstrand, get on the bus in Husum toward Strucklahnungshörn (parking spaces available). From there you can get the MS »Adler-Express« (ferry does not take cars, only people) via the Halligen Sea to Amrum. For more information, call 01805-123344. MS »Adler-Express«

By plane over Sylt
The airport in Westerland has regular connections to Berlin, Düsseldorf, Cologne, Munich, Nuremberg, Stuttgart, and other major German cities. The “Adler-Express” is in operation from spring to fall daily from Hörnum and takes just 45 minutes to reach Amrum. For example, if you leave Berlin on a Saturday at 3pm, you will reach Wittdün on Amrum by 6pm! Or if you leave Stuttgart on a Saturday at 7.05am, you will reach Amrum by 11.25am.
