Norddorf
Friedrich von Bodelschwingh discovered “the magic of the picturesque Frisian village” in 1890 and established his seaside hospices there. Nowadays the Frisian village has developed into a holiday resort with guesthouses, holiday homes, and hotels. The village is surrounded by the different island landscapes: In the West high sanddunes come up to the village’s boundaries; in the South forests and heathland spread; and north of the village you’ll find the green meadows of the marshlands. Your gaze wanders across the dyke and the Wadden Sea to the seabird sanctuary “Amrumer Odde”.
Across log paved and dune paths the “Kniepsand” can be reached within minutes. Certain areas are designated nudist beaches. If you enjoy speed and high jumps, the surf stations will cater to your needs. The long beach road and the village centre are pedestrian areas with plenty of shops inviting you to go window shopping.
